Weekend Retreat 03/30/2010
0 Comments

We just returned from a pleasant weekend getaway to East Texas.  Our good friends from Tennessee invited us to their family cabin less than 3 hours from our house.

We had a delightful time picnicking outdoors, shopping in town, hanging out by the campfire,  and hiking the trails in the woods.

Gettin "Herbie" 03/26/2010

It's so good to welcome Spring and all the delights that it brings.  We made it  through the winter with our health in tack and no major sickness, HalleluYah!

Once again, I'm moving forward with my herbal studies.  I took a few months off from my online herb class, now I'm back in action.  Though I'm having some technical issues, I do hope to produce more helpful herb & essential oil vids sometime later this year. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, if your interested in viewing some old vids I uploaded then just click here:

Also, I updated this new site with my affiliate banner (see flashing herb ad at upper right).  If you're interested in ordering herbs, you can click there and purchase online (yes, we'll get a lil' commission to add to the Broussard budget.:-)

I hope you will seek to optimize your health and take some time to get "herbie" with me :-)

Taming My Tastebuds 03/11/2010

I’ve been on an herbal quest for over 2 years now, and a dear herbalist friend just enlightened me with a great suggestion for making infusions more palatable for those with a sweet tooth.

She suggested
  1. Make the herbal infusion as normal (I usually heat a quart of water and add approx. ½ cup dried nettle leaf & allow to steep 4+hrs,)
  2. Pour a juice concentrate in a pitcher
  3. Add extra water (a quart or so)
  4. Add the infusion for an extra boost of vitamins. (See Picture Below)

I can attest that this has definitely made me more prone to drink my infusions (aka “liquid vitamins”) on a regular basis.

If you decide to try out this lil’ suggestion, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Clarification on Demographics 03/11/2010

Last month I came under some heat regarding my “Family Planning” video on YouTube.  I chose to share my response here on our family (Sharing My Voice) to make it clear what our family believes.  Sadly, some  assume we are welfare dependent, ignorant, lustful, selfish individuals.  Those who truly know us realize that this cannot be further from the truth.  Obviously, we chose to start our family young and thankfully we have matured in the process.  One thing that will remain  is that  WE EMBRACE ALL CHILDREN AS A BLESSING (not a setback.)

With that said, I did post a YouTube vid entitled “Muslim Demographics.”  It was never my intention  to fuel propaganda or a anti-Islamic agenda, but simply to present what I thought to be credible information regarding the dwindling fertility rate in our country.  We personally don’t feel threatened by Islam and we have multiple family members who have been practicing Muslims for decades.  Therefore I’m not coming from a place of fear or dislike, yet sadness that children are so rejected in our culture. I don’t even need to search far but  I can simply look at my peers and the general attitude in our society concerning children to see that parenthood isn’t considered a blessing by the masses.

In light of all this, I want to emphasize that this website has a dual purpose :

1. To inform friends/family of our happenings

2. To encourage fellow sisters in their desire to fulfill the design of our Creator

Therefore, I apologize if the posting of “Muslim Demographics” was offensive.  It was simply the most current video I viewed that emphasized the drop in worldwide fertility.

With all that said I will share link that disputes many accusations in the  “Muslim Demographics” film.  A dear family member brought it to my attention & I think it’s wise to make this information available for those who previewed the video :

http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/demographics.asp

BTW, after rewatching the video, I am humble enough to admit that perhaps the film didn’t properly express my intentions to emphasize  dropping birth rates.  If you have a more credible “fertility” vid, please share J

    WELCOME

Our family is on a agricultural mission!

" Trust in יהוה, and do good; Dwell in the earth, and feed on steadfastness.
And delight yourself in יהוה, And let Him give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to יהוה, And trust in Him, and He does it. "

    Tehillim (Psa) 37:3-5
